Since 1980, the Montgomery County Women's Fair (MCWF) has been committed to providing women of Montgomery County, Maryland with a forum for a wide range of self-discovery opportunities. Through it's annual, one-day training program, held in March, the Fair motivates and encourages women to expand their horizons by participating in workshops, viewing and networking with other business, professional and home-based women through exhibits and hearing keynote speakers, which include county, state and National executives and legislators.

The Montgomery County Women's Fair is a place to learn new skills, and one that fosters an environment where leadership talents are noticed and nurtured. The Fair is committed to continuing this fine tradition as it enters the coming year. The Fair's Planning Committee seeks to provide permanent support to continue this fine tradition, and has been fortunate to have the financial support of the National Institutes of Health's Offices of Community Liaison and Research on Women's Health.

The Fair prides itself in donating its proceeds (after expenses) to charities, which benefit women in Montgomery County. Past recipients of the Fair's profits have included, women's shelters, programs for women reentering the job market, and funds to shelter abused women and their children.

In the past the fair has operated solely on the revenue generated through registration fees. Our vision of keeping these fees appropriate and affordable for all county residents would mean that we must seek community support. A fundraising program, supported at leadership levels by 100% of the (all volunteer) Board of Directors and committee has the potential of providing 100 times the funds we have donated to county charities in the past. With a vision toward the future, we are broadening our strategic planning vision to include benefactor support from businesses and organizations in the community.

An endowment is a lasting legacy for our community. Vision and planning today will help make our fine county an even better place for women to work participate in county programs and become productive members of our community.
